1. Can I redistribute your textures?

Maybe if you ask me nicely :)

2. Do you take requests?

Not really. If you have something that I like and have a reasonable shot at finishing, then I'll do it. But I can't guarantee when I'll get it done.

3. How do you make skins?

You need some special programs to make skins. You need a good paint program, preferably one that supports layers, like Adobe Photoshop. I use Paint Shop Pro (download a trial version here). You also need a previewing program, like SimShow or Bodywarp. I use SimPose. You can find a thorough list of tutorials at Sim Programs.

4. How do I download, and where do I put the files?

In order to use anything you download in a zip file for the Sims game you need an extractor such as WinZip. If the file is an .exe file, like the ones from The Sims or SimsPlus, an unzipping utility is not necessary.

***If you want a program that will automatically unzip the files to the right spots, try SimsZip, available at SimsPlus under Help-FAQ. If you get this, you don't need to know where the files go.

If you're using a program other than SimsZip, next click Extract and type in the proper folder or browse for it:

Objects (.far, .iff), Doors (.iff), Windows (.iff) - C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Downloads

OR C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Gamedata\UserObjects

Roofs (.bmp) - C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Roofs

Skins & meshes (.bmp, .skn, .cmx) - C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Skins

Houses (.iff) - C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\UserData#

When you place houses in the neighborhood of your choice it will say "confirm overwrite" and will go over whatever house or lot space was there before.

Floors (.flr) - C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Floors

Walls (.wll) - C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Walls

Families (.fam) - C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\UserData\Import

NOTICE! Any files with extentions .jpg, .doc, .html, .sig, .sif, .txt, and .gif are all extras and do not need to be extracted.

***Also if winzip asks you to confirm an overwrite for anything, it means you already have that file, and it's ok to overwrite. (For everything except houses, make sure you really want to get rid of the house already on the lot!)

In order to make sure your new downloads are working, go get The Sims File Cop from The Sims under Get Cool Stuff/Make Cool Stuff and the Sims Plus! File Fixer from SimsPlus, under Help-FAQ.

Go check out your cool new stuff in the game!

5. How can I get more neighborhoods?

Go to My Computer and double click on drive C:

Click on Program Files and then find the Maxis folder

Double click on Maxis and double click on The Sims folder

Now find the "Template UserData" folder

Copy and paste over and over again (For as many neighborhoods as you want)

Rename them all with a different number For Example "UserData99" or "UserData8" (without the " ")

You can have as many as 99 neighborhoods on your sims game!

6. What are some cheats/Easter eggs/cool things?

To open the cheat box, press ctrl+shift+c.

1000 simoleans: Type rosebud and press enter. Every time you enter !; you will get another 1000 simoleans. If you keep typing !;!;!;!;!;!; until you run out of room, make sure the last thing you enter is NOT an exclamation point or a semicolon. Make it a question mark or something. Then, press and hold down enter. You will get all of the money, and you don't have to retype all of those !;!;!; and this will build up your money VERY quickly.

Water tool: Type water_tool and press enter. Now you can place water on your Sim's lot. Hold down shift and drag the mouse to make a big area of water. Press ctrl and left-mouse click to delete water. In order to get rid of the water tool, select a different build tool. (This cheat will not work with Hot Date or later expansions, because water is a build tool)

Green grass: Type grow_grass 150 and press enter. This will make all of your grass grow back. (This cheat will not work with Hot Date or later expansions, because grass is a build tool)

Santa: This is more of an Easter egg than a cheat, but it is still really cool. It only works if you have Livin' Large. It's okay if you have other expansion packs, but you MUST have Livin' Large. All you need to do is buy a fireplace and a Christmas tree and put them in the same room. That night, at precisely 11 p.m., buy some of Granny's cookies (downloadable at The Sims) and put them on a table near the fireplace and tree. Make sure all your Sims are in bed, and in a few hours, either Santa or his lady friend will show up and give your Sims holiday goodies like televisions or stereos. Thanks go to The Sims J for discovering this and to Abi for telling us about it.

Spilled drink: Okay, this isn't a cheat either, but that's okay. You need Hot Date for this one. Go downtown with someone your Sim doesn't know very well, have a few drinks, and make a move. If you keep flirting/kissing and if they get in a bad enough mood, they'll throw their drink on you! Don't take it personally.
